Extra Credit

Today after classes I went to check out my classmate Iris' presentation she had, as well as four other presentations, one being a group presentation. I felt like the most entertaining of the bunch was the group presentation because they were did a great job acting out their parts and even gave the audience and chance to interact by voting through text who we thought was the winner of the court debate. One of the things I learned by watching these presentations is how different the world is technologically in other areas of the world than it is here. One of the girls presenting use to live in another country and did not have all of the great technological advances that we are so use to everyday. Another thing I learned was that presentations can be much more entertaining and overall a better performance if you can find some way to incorporate the audience into your presentation. By doing so they will stay alert and entertained and won't daze off, because if that happens then you really aren't doing a good job with your presentation. Another thing I learned was that when you are giving a presentation it is a very good thing to not just read your paper the whole entire time. You really should have some parts of it memorized so that you can look out at the audience more often. I also learned about a very interesting court case in which there was a dispute between a formally married couple on who was going to keep the house and which one would be kicked out. It was a very interesting story and I sided heavily on the side of the male because he was the one who payed for the house in the first place, and the female had been taking drugs for whatever her reasons were, which makes it pretty clear that she shouldn't be the one getting ownership of the house. And lastly, I learned that I'm not the only who gets nervous before they are about to perform and while they are performing. You could tell that almost every presenter was pretty nervous by the way they were speaking and by their body language. I learned that it's okay to feel that way because the audience is there to support you and wants you to succeed. If they sense that you are nervous it only makes them feel uncomfortable and wish for you to gain some confidence throughout your presentation. Knowing that it isn't so bad presenting in front of a room full of people that you don't really know that well can bring you a long way in life. It is a task in which many aren't well versed at and as long as they know that they aren't the only ones that feel that way, it could make all the difference in the world.

What I've learned from this class this semester

I've learned more in this class this semester than I thought I was going to learn going in. I learned a lot more about MLA format, because before learning about it in this class I wasn't really sure what it exactly was. I also learned a lot from when we did the group presentations. The other groups did a great job and I learned a lot from them, especially the group who went over how to properly cite sources from in the internet. I thought they did a great job.

Making final revisions on final portfolio

I'm almost finished with my final portfolio. I think overall it's significantly better than my midterm one. I did more revisions and did a better job correcting the things that my classmates said I needed to do a better job with. I'm happy with it and think it will receive a good grade.

ideas for my portfolio

For my portfolio I'm trying to make sure that all of my stuff that is going to be in it is nice and organized. As well as make sure that my final drafts of both of my essays are better versions of my rough drafts, with great editing and a stronger piece of work.

post number one: ideas for the collage

For my collage I'm thinking about making it all about fitness and what it really takes to be in great shape. It is harder than many people understand and takes a great deal of time, dedication, and understanding of how the human body works. I will try to incorporate pictures that show what kind of lifestyle and like to live, such as playing sports and working out, but also a way to gain an understanding of how much hard work and dedication go into it, as well as the different types of foods people should be eating.
